Mobile HGV mechanic: find one near your breakdown location
Not every breakdown needs a tow. Sometimes you need a mobile mechanic who comes to the truck, whether it stands at your depot or in a lay-by. On TBD247 you search workshops that declare mobile call-out, see which languages they speak and phone them directly. You agree the price and the arrival time with the workshop.
What to have ready before you call
- Registration number and vehicle type
- Where the truck is: road, direction and the nearest junction or postcode
- What happened: warning lights, noises, when the fault started
- Whether the vehicle is loaded
Which faults can be fixed on the spot
Smaller faults are often fixed where the truck stands, for example an air leak, a brake adjustment, a battery or alternator, a coolant hose or a diagnostic check. Engine failure, accident damage or a fault that needs a lift or a workshop bay may need a tow instead. Ask the workshop which it is when you call.
For fleet dispatchers
Open the map at the driver's location, pick a workshop that declares mobile call-out and pass its phone number to the driver. Confirm the call-out area with the workshop: a listing on the map is not a promise of an arrival time. Also confirm that the workshop works on your vehicle type.
Open the map, use the service filter for mobile mechanics or search by town or postcode, then phone the workshop.
